Matt Selden was a pitcher for the Green and Gold in the early years of the program, when the team was an independent. His first season, he started seven games for Keuka College, leading the Green and Gold with 42 innings pitched and 28 strikeouts. Selden pitched five complete games in his first season, setting a program record, only to break it himself two years later.

After missing the 2001 season due to back surgery, Selden returned in 2002 and had one of the best seasons in team history. He set school records with six wins and 65.1 innings pitched; records that stood for over 20 years. Keuka College made it to North Eastern Athletic Conference championship game that season. The conference also recognized Selden as the Pitcher of the Year. He remains the only player in program history to earn that honor.

Selden continued to pitch well in his final season as Keuka College was the 2003 NEAC Regular Season Champions. He earned his second First Team All-Conference selection, again leading the team with 50.2 innings pitched. Selden graduated as the career leader in every pitching category and remains in the top ten in most. He is now tied for the career lead in wins with 11 and complete games with 13, and his 158 career innings pitched is second-most in program history. Matt Selden graduated from Keuka College with a degree in Management.
