Spectator & Tailgating Policy

Sportsmanship & Spectator Policy

At Keuka College, we show pride in our student-athletes and their effort. We encourage spectators to cheer for and celebrate with our teams. We do not condone unsportsmanlike behavior.

In accordance with Empire 8 and College policy, unsportsmanlike behavior includes:

  • Verbal or physical abuse of an official, opposing coach or player, Conference or College administrator, or spectator.?
  • Intentional incitement of participants or spectators to abusive or violent action.
  • Use of obscene gestures, profanity, or unduly provocative language (including racist or bigoted remarks) towards officials, opponents, administrators, or spectators.
  • Inappropriate criticism of any official or opposing team personnel.

Unsportsmanlike behavior may result in your immediate ejection from the venue of competition. If any spectator is impeding your ability to enjoy a contest at Keuka College, please find the nearest administrator of Campus Safety officer to assist you in resolving the issue.

Please note that fans are not permitted to pace or remain standing in front of seating areas. This is disruptive to other fans and, for indoor sports, encroaches upon the playing surface. Individuals will be asked to sit down or may stand just to the side of bleacher seating.

Admission

Keuka College does not charge admission to any regular season sporting events.

Alcohol and Tobacco

Fans are not permitted to possess or use any alcohol or tobacco products in any of Keuka College's athletic venues. See 'Tailgating Policy' below for acceptable consumption of alcohol in the Jephson Community Athletic Complex parking lot prior to home outdoor sporting events.

Only credentialed photographers will be granted field access for photography. Credentials can be applied for through the office of Athletic Communications. Please contact Jimmy Habecker, Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications, clearly stating the following:

Tailgating Policy

In conjunction with the Office of Campus Safety Office, the Department of Athletics & Recreation reserves the right to monitor and control all aspects of tailgating as it pertains to Keuka College athletic events.

Upon entering the Jephson Community Athletic Complex, fans will see two parking lots, an upper and lower lot. The lower lot will be available to spectators, at their own discretion, to bring outdoor grills and consume alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner, if of the legal drinking age of 21. We reserve the right to check IDs of any individual who we may suspect is not the legal age to consume alcohol. (Note: Students are subject to the Student Code of Conduct and must adhere to the policies listed in the Student Handbook, including disruptive behavior and alcohol consumption.)

Any signs of public intoxication and or disorderly behavior, will be grounds for dismissal from the sporting event and potential notification to local law enforcement. Individuals will be responsible for cleanup and trash removal. Failure to clean the location may result in a ban on tailgating at future events. Tents and tables are allowed, but should not impede fan parking. Set-ups are encouraged under the pavilion and in grass-covered areas. Tailgating may begin no earlier than 90 minutes prior to the start of the event and must cease once the event has begun. Tailgating is not permitted during halftime or after the game. We ask that you be responsible and also respectful to those around you (e.g., visiting fans, no amplified music, no foul language).
