KEUKA PARK, N.Y. -- Keuka College Cheer rounded out it's competitive season with a win at the SHOUT! I Love New York Championships in Syracuse, NY, on Saturday, March 18. The Wolves finished with a score of 67.17, narrowly defeated the Alfred University Saxons, who finished with a score of 66. The scores were close in many categories, but the Wolves pulled ahead in the building categories of partner stunts and pyramids.
Earlier this month the team earned first place at both the Keuka College Cheer and Dance Classic, held on March 11, and the Upstate Collegiate Championship, held on March 12. At the Keuka College Cheer and Dance Classic. At the Upstate Collegiate Championships, the Wolves outscore the Saxons 70.06 to 69.11. At this competition the Saxons dominated the building category but finished with 1.5 points in deductions. The Wolves posted higher tumbling scores, and faced no deductions, leading to the victory.
At the annual Keuka College Cheer and Dance Classic the Wolves earned first place at home. The Wolves finished with the largest point differential, finishing with a score of 76.19, 6.29 points ahead of Alfred University. The Saxons stumbled and finished with 5.25 points in deductions, while the Wolves had one stunting error that left them with just 1 point in deductions.
Keuka's biggest advantage over the Saxons comes in the tumbling areas. Seniors
Cierra Gottler,
Erin Peets, and
Bonnie Harrington compete very clean mid-range tumbling skills, while freshman, Kassidy Orbaker, performs the highest level tumbling pass competed on either team.
It was a short but successful season the Keuka College Cheer. Second year head coach,
Michelle Post said, "I am so proud of this team and all they have accomplished this season!"
