KEUKA PARK, N.Y — For the first time in school history the Keuka College Cheerleading team hosted a home competition, the Keuka College Cheer and Dance Classic in the JMW Recreation and Athletic Center. Keuka Cheer took home first place in the Small Coed Intermediate Division, but it was Gannon University who took home both Cheer and Dance Grand Champion awards.
Keuka College started with a very clean and sharp routine, with strong tumbling and basket tosses. The Wolves then faltered in the stunting and pyramid sections resulting in 2.5 points worth of deductions. While competing uncontested in the Small Coed Intermediate Division, the team finished in second place of the three Intermediate teams, beating out Alfred University All Girl Intermediate and falling behind the Cheer Grand Champion, Gannon All Girl Intermediate. A complete list of results can be found below.
In the Dance division, the Keuka College Dance Team brought jazz and hip hop numbers. KCDT took home a first place trophy after competing uncontested in the jazz division and finished just 5 points behind the Dance Grand Champion, Gannon University's hip hop with a near-perfect 69.3 out of 70 points.
In addition to strong performances by all teams in attendance, the Keuka College Cheerleading team was able to raise $250 for Liv Luv Breathe Care Packages, an organization started by the late Olivia Maniace, a Cystic Fibrosis warrior, to deliver care packages and inspiration to teens facing long hospital stays.
