KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Baseball team placed five student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District list this season.
Derek Novicki earned the honor for the second time in his career. He was joined by first-time honorees
Ethan Drinon,
Wyatt Ernst,
Alex Evans, and
Ian Ruhmel.
Derek Novicki had a career year at the plate for the Wolves. The junior had 41 hits, including 10 doubles, a triple, and two home runs. He tied for the team lead in doubles and was second with 30 runs batted in. Novicki is an Applied Mathematics and Finance major and has received multiple Empire 8 President's List selections over his career.
Senior
Ethan Drinon moved into an everyday role for the Wolves in his final year and ran with the opportunity. The outfielder had 23 hits, 14 runs batted in, and 12 runs scored on the season, all career highs. He graduated in May with a degree in Accounting from Keuka College.
Wyatt Ernst joined Keuka College this season after transferring from Cayuga Community College and instantly jumped into the starting rotation for the Wolves. Ernst ranked second on the team with seven starts while appearing in nine total games. He pitched the second-most innings on the team while posting a 3-3 record. Ernst posted a 3.88 grade point average while majoring in Unified Childhood and Special Education.
Alex Evans posted a .377 batting average in his second season at Keuka College. The sophomore had 43 hits and ranked second on the team with 36 runs scored, the fourth-most in a season in program history. A management major, Evans has earned a pair of Empire 8's President's List honors as well over his first two years at Keuka College.
Ian Ruhmel played in all 36 games for the Wolves in his second season while making 34 starts. He set new career highs in every offensive category, totaling 29 hits, 10 runs batted in, and 17 runs scored on the season. He added six stolen bases for the Wolves. Ruhmel is a Political Science/History major at Keuka.
To be eligible for Academic-All District, the student-athlete must have at least a sophomore standing and carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 while playing in at least 90% of the team's games or starting two-thirds of them.
