KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Softball team (2-9) had their season opener on Thursday night with a doubleheader against Pitt.-Bradford. The Wolves won the first game 5-4 with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning and lost 11-2 in game two.

The Panthers struck first with two runs in the top of the first inning and maintained their 2-0 lead until the bottom of the third.
Olivia Flynn (Williamson, N.Y. / Williamson) tripled and was brought home for the Wolves' first score of the game on a
Hailey Jasinski (Buffalo, N.Y. / North Collins) sacrifice fly to right field.
The score stayed at 2-1 until the top of the fifth when Pitt.-Bradford added another two runs to their lead. With the score 4-1, the Wolves loaded the bases quickly in the bottom of the sixth. The first two batters,
Kaitlyn Holland (Leicester, N.Y. / York) and
Emily VanDelinder (Corning, N.Y. / Corning) were hit by pitches, which was followed by
Hali Jenner drawing a walk.
Lauren Gilbert (Owego, N.Y. / Owego Free Academy) put the ball in play and reached first base on a Panther error, which brought in two runs. With runners on first and third,
Olivia Flynn hit a sacrifice fly to bring in another run, tying the game at 4-4.
Pitcher
Olivia Flynn was on the mound for the previous six innings and stayed out there for the top of the seventh. After a Panther leadoff single, the Keuka defense retired the side with three caught pop-ups in the infield. Holland drew a walk to put the go-ahead runner on the bases and was brought to third base on an
Emily VanDelinder single. With two runners on base,
Hali Jenner (Waverly, N.Y. Waverly) put the ball in the infield and caused a Pitt.-Bradford error. The error brought Holland home for the winning run, and the Wolves won game one 5-4.
Pitt.-Bradford 11 vs. Keuka College 2 – 6 innings
Pitt.-Bradford got on the board early again and scored six unanswered runs in the first four innings. Holland drew a walk to give the Wolves a baserunner, which was followed by a
Lauren Gilbert single and moved Holland to third. With runners on first and third,
Emily Cutrona flew out to center field for a sacrifice fly, bringing in their first run of the game.
The Panthers added to their lead, scoring five runs in the sixth inning. In the bottom of the sixth, the Wolves looked to close the gap starting with a triple from
Hailey Jasinski. Jasinski was brought home on a fielder's choice play hit by
Makenna DeMoney (Conklin, N.Y. / Susquehanna Valley). This was the last score of the game and the Wolves lost game two 11-2.
