KEUKA PARK, N.Y. - The Keuka College Softball played finished their first Empire 8 Conference weekend of the 2023 season with two losses to Russell Sage College
Keuka College (3-13, 0-4 Empire 8) lost their first game against Russell College 12-6. The Wolves lost the second game 12-0 to the Gators in five innings.
Keuka College 6 vs Russell Sage 12 - Game One
The scoring started early in game one of the Wolves' doubleheader vs the Gators. In the top of the second, the Gators scored three unearned runs to take the lead. The Green and Gold came back quickly after a double from
Olivia Flynn (Williamson, N.Y. / Williamson) scored two followed by a double from
Emily VanDelinder (Corning, N.Y. / Corning) to knock in Flynn and tie the game.
The Gators scored seven more runs between the third and fifth inning, jumping to a 10-3 lead. VanDelinder scored the Wolves' fourth run of the game capitalizing on a Gator error and
MaKenna DeMoney (Conklin, N.Y. / Susquehanna Valley) knocked in
Helena Hill (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) with a single to right field. The Wolves scored their sixth and final run of the game that inning off a fielder's choice hit by
Emily Cutrona (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca West).
The Gators would score two more between the sixth and seventh inning bringing the final score to 12-6 in Russell Sage's favor.
Lead Wolf: Junior
Emily VanDelinder was on fire at the plate in game one. She went 3-for-3 at the plate with two singles and a double knocking in one RBI and scoring one of the Wolves' runs herself. With her three hits in game one, VanDelinder reached her 45
th career hit.
Keuka College 0 vs Russell Sage 12– Game Two- 5 Innings
The Gators controlled all of game two scoring multiple runs in the first, second, fourth, and fifth inning.
Kelsey Mohl (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) led off the bottom of the second with a single to right-centerfield which would be the Wolves' only hit of the game.
While the Wolves were aggressive at the plate throughout the game, they could not get past a great defensive effort from the Gators. They remained scoreless and fell 12-0 in five innings.

Kelsey Mohl was the only Wolf able to produce a hit in game two of the doubleheader.

- The Keuka College Softball team is 0-8 all-time against Russell Sage College.
- The Green and Gold scored a new high of six runs in a single game against Russell Sage in game one of the doubleheader.
- Kelsey Mohl hit her 50th career hit in game one followed by Emily VanDelinder who reached her 45th career hit in the same game.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Keuka College Softball team continues their gameplay at home on Wednesday, April 12
th for a non-conference doubleheader against SUNY-Delhi. The Wolves will finish out next week with another Empire 8 Conference doubleheader on the road on Friday, April 14
th against Alfred University at 3:00 pm followed by a home doubleheader with Houghton University at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 15th.
