HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team swept Hilbert College in a doubleheader in Hamburg, New York on Thursday afternoon.
Keuka College (10-22, 2-8 Empire 8) defeated Hilbert College 15-4 after five innings in game one. The Wolves then went on to defeat the Hawks 12-1 after five innings in game two.
Keuka College 15 at Hilbert College 4 – Game One – 5 Innings
The Wolves started game one with strong offense. The first four batters for the Wolves all singled to go up 2-1. The Hawks got one back, but the Wolves came back stronger scoring seven additional runs in the top of the second. Freshmen
Hannah Longley (Hannibal, N.Y. / Hannibal) and
Makenna DeMoney (Conklin, N.Y. / Susquehanna Valley) both earned their second singles in as many innings to put the Wolves up 4-1 and
Emily Cutrona (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca West) singled up the middle with bases loaded making it all the way home on Hawks errors bringing the score to 9-1.
Again, the Hawks scored one more in the bottom of the second, but the Wolves did not let up.
Hannah Longley tripled to left field to bring the score to 10-2 and the offense would continue until the Green & Gold took game one 15-4 after five innings.
Lead Wolf: Emily Cutrona had a career game at the plate. The freshman when three-for-four with five RBIs and scored two runs herself.
Keuka College 12 at Hilbert College 1 – Game Two – 5 Innings
The Wolves picked up right where they left off from game one after jumping out to a 4-0 lead off four hits in the top of the first.
Grace Eagen (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca West) singled up the middle to score the first two runs and
Emily Cutrona followed with a double to score two more.
Keuka College scored every inning and reached a 10-0 lead in the top of the fourth after
Joan Carroll (Oswego, N.Y. / Oswego) tripled to score three Wolves. The Hawks got on the board in the bottom of the fourth scoring one off a Wolves error.
The Wolves would score two more in the top of the fifth bringing the score to 12-1 to end the game.
Lead Wolf: Joan Carroll was the offensive leader in game two. The senior went two-for-three with a triple along with 5 RBIs. This was Carroll's first career triple and the senior set a new personal best with five RBIs in one game.

- The Keuka College Softball team is 20-6 overall against Hilbert College.
- The Wolves got their revenge on the Hawks after being swept in a doubleheader last year.
- Helena Hill (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) is now tied for first overall with 20 walks this season.
- Emily VanDelinder (Corning, N.Y. / Corning) reached her 50th career hit in game one today.
- The team now has 265 hits this season, ranking eighth overall, and 50 doubles, ranking fifth overall.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Keuka College Softball team is back to Empire 8 Conference play this weekend. The Wolves head to Medaille University on Saturday, April 29
th for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm. The Wolves then return home on Sunday, April 30
th for Senior Day at 1:00 pm against Elmira College.
