ALFRED, N.Y. - The Keuka College Softball team lost a set of non-conference games at Alfred State College on Monday afternoon.
In game one, Keuka College (7-17, 2-6 Empire 8) fell to Alfred State College 10-6. In game two, the Pioneers defeated the Wolves 3-1.
Keuka College 6 at Alfred State College 10- Game One
The Pioneers got out to an early lead scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Wolves would get their first run across the plate in the bottom of the third inning after
Helena Hill (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) Â beat out an infield hit to third base and
Makenna DeMoney (Conklin, N.Y. / Susquehanna Valley) hit a single to right field to score Hill.
The Pioneers scored two more runs in the bottom of the third making the score 4-1. The Wolves looked to make a comeback in the top of the fourth.
Olivia Flynn (Williamson, N.Y. / Williamson) doubled to knock in
Emily Cutrona (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca West).
Olivia Flynn came up big again in the top of the sixth with a triple to score Cutrona again, followed by a ground ball from
Kaitlyn Holland (Leicester, N.Y. / York) to score Flynn. The Wolves scored again on a groundout from
Kelsey Mohl (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) followed by a single from
Emily Cutrona to knock in the sixth and final run for the Wolves.
In that time, the Pioneers scored six more runs bringing the final score to 10-6 in the Pioneer's favor.
Lead Wolf: Freshman
Olivia Flynn led the Wolves' offense in game one. Flynn went three-for-four at the plate with a double and a triple. The Freshman also scored one of the Wolves' runs and recorded two RBIs. Â
Keuka College 1 at Alfred State College 3– Game Two
The Wolves and Pioneers played even for the start of game two. The Wolves threatened to score in the top of the third after a single from
Helena Hill followed by a single from
Grace Eagen (Buffalo, N.Y. / West Seneca West) put Hill on third base with one out. The Wolves were unable to get a run across the plate and the Pioneers strung together a couple of hits to score the first run of the game in the bottom of the third.

Kelsey Mohl ripped a ball up the middle in the top of the fifth to score
Grace Eagen and tie the game 1-1. The Pioneers came right back in the bottom of the fifth scoring two more and the Wolves were unable to respond leaving them with a 3-1 loss.
Lead Wolf: Helena Hill led the Wolves' offense with two hits and a walk in game two of the doubleheader.
KC Notes:
- The Keuka College Softball team is now 6-6 all-time against Alfred State College.
- Today's doubleheader was the first time the Wolves have played at Alfred State College.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Keuka College Softball team is back at home tomorrow for a doubleheader against Wells College starting at 3:00 pm. The Wolves are back to Empire 8 Conference play this weekend with St. John Fisher University on Saturday and Nazareth College on Sunday.
