CLERMONT, Fla. — The spring trip to Florida continued for the Keuka College Softball team, but the Wolves dropped a pair of games on Tuesday.
Keuka College (0-6, 0-0 Empire 8) lost their opener to Bates College 12-4. The Wolves then dropped the nightcap 10-0 to Oberlin College.
Bates College 12 vs. Keuka College 4 – 5 innings
The Wolves took the lead in the top of the first as
Hannah Longley opened the game with a walk and stole second. She later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Kelsey Mohl to give Keuka a 1-0 lead. However, four errors led to four runs for Bates in the bottom of the first inning.
The Bobcats added to their lead in the second, plating four more runs to make it 8-1 after two. Keuka answered right back as
Joan Carroll led off the third with a single. She moved to second on a wild pitch and scored as
Hannah Longley's bunt single was thrown away. Longley scored on an RBI groundout by
Makenna DeMoney to make it 8-3, butting into the Bobcat lead.
Keuka College continued to chip away at the Bates College lead. The Wolves got one more back in the fourth as a two-out single by
Olivia Flynn scored
Emily Cutrona.
Bates answered right back, however, scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning to push their lead out to 12-4. The Wolves wouldn't score in the fifth as Bates closed out the victory.
Lead Wolf: Hannah Longley did a good job pacing the Keuka College offense from the top of the order. Longley was on base twice with a single and a walk. Each time she reached base, Longley would score for the Wolves.
Oberlin College 10 vs. Keuka College 0 – 5 innings
The Yeowomen wasted no time as they scored three runs in the top of the first to stake the early advantage. They then added to it in the third with four more runs.
Oberlin tacked on three more runs in the top of the fourth.
Hannah Longley led off the bottom of the fourth with a double, the first hit of the game for the Wolves, but she would be left stranded at second.
The Wolves attempted to extend the game in the fifth inning with three straight singles but were unable to score as Keuka College would lose 10-0 in five innings.
Lead Wolf: Longley's double in the fourth was Keuka's first baserunner of the game.

- Grace Eagen singled against Bates to log her first career hit
- Despite recording an RBI with a sacrifice fly against Bates, Kelsey Mohl had her career-best eight-game hitting streak snapped
- To go with a hit in each game, Olivia Flynn pitched a scoreless inning for the Wolves against Oberlin
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have an off day on Wednesday down in Florida, but will return to action on Thursday. Keuka College will face Union College and Lawrence University on March 23 as they continue their spring break trip.
