CLERMONT, Fla.- The Keuka College Softball team (0-4, 0-0 Empire 8) suffered two more losses in their second set of games in Florida on Monday to Buffalo State 5-2 and Oberlin College 9-4.
Keuka College 2 vs Buffalo State 5 – Game One
The Wolves took control of their first game late Monday morning after
Kelsey Mohl (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park/) singled in fellow seniors
Joan Carroll (Oswego, N.Y. / Oswego) and
Helena Hill (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) to put the Wolves up 2-0. The Bengals came back strong in the fourth inning scoring all five of their runs and the Wolves were unable to answer.
Freshman
Lauren Gilbert (Owego, N.Y. / Owego Free Academy) got her first collegiate start on the mound throwing 3.1 innings and only giving up five hits.
Lead Wolf: Kelsey Mohl was the standout for Keuka College in their first game of the day going 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBIs.
Oberlin College 9 vs Keuka College 4 – Game Two
The Wolves fell behind quickly in game two after falling behind 7-0 in the fourth inning.
Helena Hill was the first runner on in the bottom of the fourth and freshman
Emily Cutrona (Buffalo, N.Y./ West Seneca West) tripled down the right-field line scoring the first run for the Wolves.
Kelsey Mohl followed up right behind her with a single up the middle to score the second run. The Wolves held off Oberlin's offense through the top of the fifth and scored two more in the bottom of the fifth.
Lauren Gilbert singled up the middle to score
Emily VanDelinder (Corning, N.Y. / Corning) making the score 7-3.
Emily Cutrona came up big with another hit down the third base line to bring in Gilbert and bring the score to 7-4. This would be the end of the Wolves' offense for the day and Oberlin would score two more runs in the sixth inning to bring the game to a 9-4 final score.

Emily Cutrona went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs and scored one run herself in the second game. Â

- This was the first time the Keuka College Softball team has played Buffalo State and Oberlin College in program history. Â
- Facing these two new teams means Keuka College Softball has faced 96 different opponents in their 39 seasons of softball.
- Lauren Gilbert recorded her first collegiate career hit in today's game against Buffalo State.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves continue their Florida trip with another doubleheader tomorrow in Clermont. The Wolves are set to face off with Bates College at 9 am followed by another game with Oberlin College at 11:30 am.
