KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team lost their season opener to Marywood University 3-1 on Friday night at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.
Freshmen
Bryn Straub and
Sydney Haust tied for the Keuka College (0-1) lead in kills with seven apiece in their first collegiate games.
Marywood University 3 at Keuka College 1 – 25-21, 25-17, 23-25, 25-16
The Pacers took the first two sets from the Wolves, but not without a fight. The Wolves kept the score close in the first set and ultimately only fell by four 25-21. Marywood took the second set 25-17 for a 2-0 lead in the match.
Junior
Emma Sipos had a strong Keuka College debut with 15 digs and six kills against the Pacers. It was a tough group effort in the third set from the Wolves.
Caitlynne Marczyk served out the final five points, including a pair of aces as the Wolves took the third 25-23 to extend the match. However, the Pacers would ultimately take the match, winning the fourth set 25-16 to defeat the Wolves 3-1 on Friday.

- The Wolves are now 39-20 all-time in their home invitational. It was just the fourth meeting all-time between the Wolves and Pacers. Marywood holds the series advantage 3-1
- Casey Hunziker facilitated the Keuka attack with 20 assists
- The Wolves had 16 aces in the match. Emma Sipos led with eight and Caitlynne Marczyk was right behind her with five
- The eight aces for Sipos set a new Keuka College record for most aces in a four-set match
- Kendra Waltz set a new career-best in digs with 12 on the night
Up Next for Keuka College: The 2022 Keuka College Invitational continues on Saturday with a pair of matches for the Green and Gold. Keuka College will face Ursinus College at noon at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center. The Wolves then close the invitational with a 2 p.m. match against York College.
