KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at home on Saturday to close the 2022 Keuka College Invitational.
Keuka College (0-3) lost to both Ursinus College and York College in straight sets on Saturday.
Ursinus College 3 at Keuka College 0 – 25-15, 25-15, 25-22
Keuka College held an early lead in the first set, but Ursinus would rally and gain control. The Bears had 15 kills against four errors while Keuka had seven kills and six errors in the first as Ursinus took the opening set 25-15.
The second set ended in the same score as the Wolves struggled with their attack. Keuka had five kills and six errors in the second. Ursinus had 12 kills in the frame to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Ursinus led by nine early in the third but the Wolves rallied. Keuka College cut the margin down to two at 13-11 following a Caitlynne Marczyk ace, but the Bears responded with eight of the next ten points. The visitors closed it out, winning the third set 25-22.
Lead Wolf: Emma Sipos led Keuka on attack and at the service line. Sipos finished with a team-high seven kills and three aces against the Bears.
York College 3 at Keuka College 0 – 25-20, 25-20, 25-16
Keuka College held an early lead over the Spartans and maintained it for the first half of the set. York responded to tie the match at 13-13 and then took the lead. The Wolves had 12 kills in the opener, but the Spartans topped them with 15 in the frame as York won the first set 25-20.
Like the first match of the day, the score of the second set mirrored the first set. York College led from the first point to win the second 25-20 over the Wolves.
Keuka College battled to extend the match in the third set. A block by Emma Sipos and Megan McCann gave Keuka a 12-10 edge, but York went on a run. The guest converted 10 of the next 11 points to take control. York won the third 25-16 to sweep the match.
Lead Wolf: Junior Emma Sipos again led the Green and Gold. She posted a double-double with a team-high 11 kills and 13 digs.
KC Notes:
· Saturday was just the second-ever meeting between Keuka College and Ursinus. The series is now split one apiece
· The Wolves are winless in their four matches against York College
· Casey Hunziker had a combined 34 assists on the day
