Box Score 2 UTICA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Softball team lost both games today to Utica University.
Both games were back and forth but the Pioneers had the last at bats to take both games.
Utica University 13 vs Keuka College 10
The first inning the Wolves came out swinging. Leadoff batter Helena Hill reached first on a base hit through the infield. Hill was moved over to second on a sac bunt by Abby Eising. Jordan Cole ripped a single to right field to score Hill. Jordyn Fargo reached first on an error by the center fielder and Cole scored from first. The Green and Gold would lead 2-0. The Pioneers however would also score two in the first.
Leading off the third inning Cole reached first from an error by the second baseman. Kelsey Mohl singled to left field and advanced to second by a pass ball in the outfield and Cole would score. Mohl was moved to third by Emily VanDelinder and would come around to score on a base hit from Joan Carroll. The Wolves would lead 4-2.
The Pioneers responded right back with two more to tie the game at four.
The fifth inning would be the biggest inning for the Wolves. Leading off the inning was Fargo who singled to center field and VanDelinder would single through the infield. Carroll followed with a base hit through the middle and Fargo scored. Makaela Mills hit a pop fly to the outfield and tagging at third was VanDelinder. Hill singled up the middle and Carroll advanced to second. Following was Eising with a base hit through the infield and everyone moved up a base to have bases loaded. Jordan Cole smashed a homerun over the center field fence to clear the bases and go up 10-4.
Utica University responded right back with five runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth and take the game 13-10.
Lead Wolf: Jordan Cole was swinging for the fences today as she crushed a grand slam and was 3-4 at the plate with five RBI and scored three herself.
Utica University 19 vs Keuka College 11
The Wolves jumped out to an early lead, Cole and Mohl went back to back with singles up the middle, Fargo would hit them both home with a single to right field the Green and Gold would go up 2-0. Utica University responded back with one to cut the lead in half 2-1.
The third inning the Pioneers added four to go up 5-2.
The Wolves continued to hit the ball in the third inning. Jordan Cole reached first on a fielder's choice and came around to score on a base hit from Fargo. The Green and Gold would trail 5-3.
Utica University added one more in the fourth inning to go up 6-3.
Top of the fifth Hill singled to third base and Eising ripped a double to the left field fence. Cole singled to the pitcher and the Wolves would have bases loaded. Mohl ripped a single through the middle and scored two to be down one 6-5. Fargo got hit by a pitch to load the bases again. Carroll put the ball in play and an error in the infield would keep the train moving, the Green and Gold added one to tie the game 6-6. Mills grounded out to the first baseman and Mohl would score to take the lead 7-6.
The Pioneers added three more in the fifth inning to go up 9-6.
In the sixth inning Helena Hill started the inning off with a base hit, Eising reached first on a fielder's choice. Cole singled to center field to have runners on first and second. Mohl ripped a double down the left field line and Eising would score. VanDelinder ripped a double to left center to score Cole and Mohl to take back the lead 10-9. Carroll drove in VanDelinder with a single to center field and the Wolves would end the inning 11-9.
Utica University added 10 more in the bottom of the sixth to end the game 19-11.
Lead Wolf: Both Kelsey Mohl and JOrdan Cole went 3-4 at the plate. Mohl had three RBI and crossed homeplate three time herself. Cole crossed home plate four times in game two.
KC Notes:
- Keuka College and Utica College are now 0-0 all-time against each other.
- Abby Eising one sac bunt in game one was her ninth in her career and is now seventh in the Keuka College Record book
- Game one of 10 runs was the most Keuka College Softball team scored this season.
- After getting 10 runs in the first game the Wolves had 11 in game two to make for the most this season.
- Game one's loss the was the first loss in 10 years with putting 10 runs on the board.
