Keuka College Field Hockey Falls at Utica

UTICA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Field Hockey team lost on the road at Utica University 5-0 on Saturday evening in an Empire 8 Conference game.

Utica University controlled possession throughout the game on Saturday. The Pioneers had three early corners but were unable to capitalize. The Wolves did a good job in the midfield and earned a corner, but Keuka too was unable to capitalize. The game would be scoreless after one.

The Pioneers got on the board early in the second, scoring 57 seconds into the frame. Each team would have a corner in the quarter, but Keuka would not record a shot. Utica got one more before halftime to lead 2-0 at the break.

Utica continued to press the Wolves in the third. They had a 5-0 advantage in both shots and corners. The hosts got the third goal midway through the quarter and led 3-0 going into the fourth.

The hosts had 11 shots against Keuka in the final quarter. The Wolves had seven saves in the frame with Nichols making six and Kristen Despins recording a defensive save. Utica added a pair of goals in the final five minutes to defeat the Wolves 5-0.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold have a midweek game on Wednesday on the road. Keuka College will play at Elmira College at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in an Empire 8 matchup. The series with the Soaring Eagles has been tight as three of the last four games have gone beyond regulation.
