Box Score 2 ALFRED, N.Y. – The Keuka College (3-7, 3,7E8) lost both games against Alfred University on Sunday in an Empire 8 Conference matchup.
Alfred University 4 vs. Keuka College 0 – Game one
The first three innings of today's ball game was a straight pitching duel for Whitney Tyler (Meshoppen, Pa. Elk Lake) and Jess Wilcox. Both pitchers wouldn't let the other team score. In the third inning the Saxons caused pressure on Keuka's defense and added two runs on the board.
In the bottom of the sixth inning Alfred added another two runs by causing pressure on the defense and taking advantage of the miscues. In the seventh inning the Wolves would try to get on the board by Abby Kruse (Williamsville, N.Y. / Williamsville South) and Emily VanDelinder (Corning, N.Y. / Corning) both getting hit by a pitch but the lead was enough for the Saxons as they took the victory 4-0
Lead Wolf: Starting pitcher Whitney Tyler would record two strikeouts today and she would pitch the complete game.
Houghton College 7 vs Keuka College 6 – Game two (five innings)
The Keuka College softball team would start game two hot with the bats. The Wolves put pressure on the defense by putting the ball in play and causing errors in the field. Abby Eising (Buffalo, N.Y. / Williamsville South) and Abby Kruse both reached first on two errors in the field. Jordan Cole (Campbell, N.Y. / Campbell-Savona) put the ball in play and reach first on a fielder's choice advancing Eising. Emily VanDelinder put the ball in play and reached first on another error in the field by the Saxons and scoring Eising. Kelsey Mohl (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) singled through the left side, Cole would cross home the Wolves would lead 2-0.
In the bottom of the inning the Saxons responded back and added eight off of the Wolves miscues in the field. In the bottom of the second inning the Saxons would add another five to extend their lead 13-2.
Keuka College would load the bases in top of the fourth with a walk, a single from Bosch and Helena Hill (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) but the Wolves would leave the bases loaded. In the bottom of the inning the Saxons extended their lead adding one to make the score 14-2. This would be enough for the Saxons as they took the second game 14-2 after five.
Lead Wolves: Teammates Helena Hill and Danielle Bosch both went 2-3 at the plate and both played all 12 innings.
KC Notes:
- Keuka College is now 8-26 all-time against Alfred College. The last time these to meet was in 2019 and Alfred won both.
- Whitney Tyler would record her 45 career appearance in today's game.
- Danielle Bosch (Livonia, N.Y. / Livonia) got switched from center field to short stop in game two and she would throw out a runner at first.
