READING, Pa. — In a rematch of the last three North Eastern Athletic Conference Championships, the Keuka College Softball team was swept in a doubleheader at Penn St.-Berks on Saturday afternoon.

Keuka College (5-11, 2-2 NEAC) attempted a late comeback, but fell 6-3 in game one. The Wolves were then shutout by the Nittany Lions 3-0 in the nightcap.

Penn St.-Berks 6 vs. Keuka College 3 – Game One

The Nittany Lions struck first with a two-run home run in the second inning to take a lead. Berks then added to their lead with four in the third inning to extend the advantage to 6-0.

Keuka College would hold Berks there and attempted a two-out rally in the seventh inning. Three straight singles by Alexa Brown, Hayley Gorges, and Shelby Burgess loaded the bases for the Wolves. Jessie Hammers cashed them in with double. It was compounded by a Berks error that cleared the bases, making it 6-3. However, a strikeout ended the game with Penn St.-Berks winning game one.

Lead Wolves: Both Hammers and Gorges finished the game with two hits. With the hit, Jessie Hammers moved into a tie for tenth on the career-hits list at Keuka and also tied the school record with a 13-game hitting streak.

Penn St.-Berks 3 vs. Keuka College 0 – Game Two

The Green and Gold threatened in the opening inning as Hammers led off with a single, setting the school-record with a 14-game hitting streak. Brittany Vergason also singled, but Keuka left two runners on base in the inning.

Penn St.-Berks got on the board in the third inning. The Nittany Lions followed an error and a bunt single with back-to-back doubles to take a 3-0 lead over Keuka.

Keuka College would manage one walk over the final four innings as their only base runner. The Wolves fell to the Nittany Lions 3-0.

Lead Wolf: Whitney Tyler pitched game two for the Wolves. She allowed two earned runs over her six innings of work. Tyler struck out one batter and added one of Keuka's three hits in the game.
