KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Softball team played their first home games of the season on Tuesday and won them both as they swept a doubleheader with Alfred State College.

Keuka College (5-7, 2-2 NEAC) won the opener 11-1 in five innings and shutout the Pioneers in the nightcap, 8-0, in six innings.

Keuka College 11 vs. Alfred State 1 – 5 innings

After a scoreless first, the Wolves offense jumped to a 5-0 lead in the second inning. Katelyn Warren led the inning off with a double off of the left field wall. She later scored on a wild pitch. Alexa Brown plated two with a single and Jessie Hammers and Brittany Vergason each added RBIs in the inning for Keuka.

The Green and Gold added to their lead in the third. The big hits for the Wolves came from Janessa Vaadi and Alexa Brown, each with RBI singles in the inning. The Wolves added two more runs as they led 9-0 after three innings. Keuka College would continue onto the 11-1 victory in five innings.

Lead Wolf: Sophomore centerfielder Alexa Brown went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Wolves. She set a new career-high with three runs batted in and scored a run as well.

Keuka College 8 vs. Alfred State 0 – 6 innings

The Keuka College offense continued to roll in Game 2. With one out, Keuka strung together two singles and a walk to load the bases for Janessa Vaadi. The junior drove a ball over the left fielder's head for a bases-clearing triple. Vaadi later scored on a Maddie Dupuis groundout as the Wolves led 4-0.

The Wolves increased the lead in the fourth as Katelyn Warren plated a pair with a triple to right field. In the bottom of the sixth, the first two batters reached for the Wolves and pinch hitter Shelby Burgess came to the plate. The freshman doubled to left centerfield to score two and give Keuka College an 8-0 victory.

Lead Wolf: Freshman Whitney Tyler got the win in the circle for the Wolves. Tyler struck out five batters in throwing he second consecutive complete-game shutout.

• In Game 1, starting pitcher Colleen Mooney threw four no-hit innings for the Wolves with five strikeouts
• It was the 20th win of her career, moving to seventh on the Keuka College all-time wins list
• Burgess' game-ending double was the first hit of her career
• Miranda McGloon and Hailey Hubbard also recorded their first hits in a Keuka College uniform on Tuesday

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will host Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader on Friday afternoon at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex. Keuka College swept the four-game series with the Wildcats in 2017.
