Wolves Lose to Penn St.-Berks 9-0

READING, Pa. – The Keuka College Softball team fell in their second game of the double-elimination North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament to hosts Penn St.-Berks by the score of 9-0.

Mickenzie Palmer had the lone two hits for Keuka College (26-10, 23-1 NEAC).

Pitching dominated early between the Nittany Lions and the Wolves. The game was scoreless after four innings. Keuka College had their best chance to score in the fifth. Palmer led the inning off with a single. She was pinch ran for by Suzanne Welch and Welch was bunted to second. She moved to third with two outs. Shannon Johnson hit a line drive to left centerfield, but the Berks centerfielder made a diving catch to keep the game scoreless. The 0-0 tie remained until the bottom of the sixth inning. Penn St.-Berks scored nine runs in the inning, including a walkoff grand slam, to end the game with a 9-0 victory over Keuka College in six innings.

Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves will face the winner of Penn St.-Abington and Cazenovia College on Sunday at 11am in an elimination game. The winner will advance to face Penn St.-Berks in the championship game at 1pm and will have to defeat the Nittany Lions twice to win the title.
