MARCY, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team shutout SUNY Poly in both games of a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

Keuka College (17-9, 15-1 NEAC) won the opener 14-0 and the nightcap 8-0 with both games going only five innings.

Colleen Mooney got the start in Game 1 for the Wolves. She allowed just three hits in shutting out the Wildcats. Mooney struck out eight in her 13th complete game of the season. In Game 2, Keuka College turned to Janessa Vaadi. The sophomore allowed a career-low one hit in four innings of work.

On the day, Keuka College got three hits from Shannon Johnson, Mickenzie Palmer, and Samantha Blum. Palmer drove in three runs for the Wolves and Blum hit a double in each game of the doubleheader.

Keuka College 14 at SUNY Poly 0 – 5 innings

Keuka College took the early lead over SUNY Poly, plating a pair of runs in the top of the first inning off the bat of Katelyn Warren. The lead grew in the second with four more runs to lead 6-0. Keuka College broke the game open in the fourth. Taking advantage of four Wildcat errors, Keuka scored seven runs in the inning on just two hits. It would be more than enough run support for Mooney. The freshman earned her 10th win of the season as Keuka College defeated SUNY Poly 14-0 in five innings.

Lead Wolf: Katelyn Warren had a big game for the Wolves at the plate. The junior had two hits in the game, both doubles, and drove in three runs for Keuka College.

Keuka College 8 at SUNY Poly 0 – 5 innings

The Wolves took an early lead again against the Wildcats. Keuka College scored two on a single by Palmer and a third later came in on a wild pitch as the Wolves led 3-0 after the first. Keuka added to it in the third with an RBI single by Shannon Johnson. The Wolves led 4-0 in the fourth when Janessa Vaadi surrendered the first hit to SUNY Poly. The runner would be left stranded as Vaadi got a groundout to get out of the inning. In the fifth, the Wolves scored three to take an 8-0 lead. The big hit came from Brittany Vergason as the freshman hit a two-run single into right field. The Wolves went to Colleen Mooney to close the game out in the fifth. She retired SUNY Poly in order on just eight pitches as Keuka College defeated the Wildcats 8-0.

Lead Wolf: Vaadi was nearly unhittable for Keuka College. The sophomore pitcher allowed just one hit on the afternoon and struck out a pair of batters to earn her sixth win of the season.
