Softball Earns Two Wins Against SUNY Cobleskill

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Softball team swept SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

The Green and Gold pitched a pair of shutouts, defeating the Fighting Tigers 8-0 and 5-0.

Keuka College (8-6, 6-0) has a pair of road conference doubleheaders coming up this week. They travel to Morrisville State on Tuesday and play at Penn College on Wednesday.

Game 1

Keuka College staked their lead early in Game 1, sending 10 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first. Mackenzie Cole led the inning off with a bunt single. She scored one batter later as Samantha Blum tripled down the left field line. Blum scored on a wild pitch for the 2-0 lead. Jessica Parmiter singled home a runner with two outs later in the inning and Nicole Wright was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Tally McDonald cleared the bases with Keuka's second triple of the inning, giving the Green and Gold a 6-0 lead.

Keuka added a run in the third on a double steal. The runs were more than enough for starting pitcher Liz Warren. The senior allowed just three hits and struck out four batters in pitching the complete game shutout.

In the bottom of the fifth, Nicole Wright singled and Maddie Dupuis walked. Leah Parker doubled to the right centerfield gap to score Wright, giving Keuka the 8-0, five-inning victory.

 Game 2

Keuka College took the lead in Game 2 in the second inning. Nicole Wright walked. With two outs, Megan Wilbur tripled down the right field line to score Wright and give Keuka the 1-0 advantage.

After adding an unearned run in the fourth, Keuka expanded their lead in the fifth. Samantha Blum led the inning off with an inside the park home run. Allyson Muller followed that with a double and scored on a single by Mickenzie Palmer. Pinch runner Janessa Vaadi crossed home on a sacrifice fly by Tally McDonald, giving Keuka a 5-0 lead.

Brianna Bush and Brooke LaLone combined for the shutout. Bush went five innings allowing just three hits and striking out four. LaLone pitched the final two innings, striking out two SUNY Cobleskill batters.
