The Keuka College softball team has captured the last six North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) postseason championships, and the Storm kicked off their title defense with a thrilling 2-1 win over Wilson (Pa.) College Saturday morning on the Hintz Athletic Field in Reading, Pa.

Keuka (16-13) rallied from a one-run deficit, tying the game on an RBI single from junior Deliane Lessard (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) before winning the game on junior Jill Hart's (Cowlesville, NY/Iroquois) walk-off, RBI double down the left field line in the bottom of the seventh.

The Green and Gold, who won the NEAC North Division's regular season championship, will face Penn State-Berks (34-3) at 10 a.m. Sunday as part of the double-elimination tournament. If Keuka wins, it will face the winner of Berks and Wilson at 2 p.m. Sunday for the NEAC championship.

Junior Katie Evangelista (Geneva, NY/Geneva) and sophomore Kelly Proper (Silver Springs, NY/Letchworth) were each 2-for-3 with a walk, while Hart and Lessard drove in the only runs to lift the Storm.

Junior Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney), the NEAC North Pitcher of the Year, allowed one unearned run on 10 hits with only one walk to improve to 9-6.

Wilson (14-16) threatened in the first, putting runners on first and second with one out, but Gravel snared a comebacker and threw to Proper to complete the inning-ending double play.

The Phoenix took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, scoring an unearned run on a groundout.

Keuka threatened in the bottom of the inning with runners on second and third after freshman Ally Muller (Bath, NY/Haverling) singled and Proper singled and stole second base, but a pop up ended the inning.

Wilson again threatened in the fourth, putting runners on first and third with only one out, but Gravel picked off Maggie Sipps at third base for the second out, then got Shayna Lehman on a come-backer to end the inning.

The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth. Junior Brooke Lovell (Arkport, NY/Arkport) hit a one-out single, advanced to second on an error and scored the tying run on Lessard's single.

The Phoenix loaded the bases with only one out in the top of the seventh, but Gravel got a strikeout and a groundout to keep the game tied heading into the bottom of the seventh.

With one out, Evangelista walked, pinch-runner Nicole Wright (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) advanced to second on a groundout and came around to score on Hart's double down the left field line as Keuka won its first NEAC tournament game.
