Keuka College's softball team scored 32 runs on 35 hits and limited Wells to just five singles in recording a sweep Wednesday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y.
The Storm (6-6, 6-2 NEAC) swept the Express (4-8, 4-6) by scores of 19-0 and 13-0 to snap their four-game losing streak.
Junior Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) allowed only two singles and struck out seven with no walks in the complete-game win in game one.
Juniors Deliane Lessard (Rochester, NY/Genesee Community College) and Katie Evangelista (Geneva, NY/Geneva) and sophomores Haley Jordan (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and Kelly Proper (Silver Springs, NY/Letchworth) each drove in three runs as the Storm recorded 19 hits.
Leading 1-0 heading into the top of the second, the Storm exploded for 11 runs. Lessard hit a two-run double into center field, Jordan hit a two-run double to left-center field and Evangelista added a two-run single to spark Keuka during the inning.
In the third, Keuka added six more runs on seven hits. After Jordan led off with a single into left field, Proper crushed a two-run home run over the left-center field fence. Evangelista and freshman Ally Muller (Bath, NY/Haverling) each added RBI singles in the inning.
Gravel held Wells hitless over the first three innings until a single to lead off the fourth and improved to 2-4 with the win as Keuka won via the mercy rule.
Jordan was 4-for-5 with three runs scored, Evangelista was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, freshman Jessica Parmiter (Cortland, NY/Homer) was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Muller, Proper and junior Jill Hart (Cowlesville, NY/Iroquois) each added two hits for the Storm.
In the nightcap, the Storm scored three runs in the second, four runs in both the third and fourth innings and tacked on two more in the fifth to again win via the mercy rule.
Freshman Liz Warren (Elmira Heights, NY/Thomas A. Edison) limited Wells to a pair of singles in improving to 4-2 on the year. She struck out five and did not issue a walk in the win.
Keuka had seven extra-base hits, five doubles and two triples, led by Muller, who had two doubles. Lessard, Proper, Hard, Gravel, Parmiter and Muller each had two hits and every member of the Storm recorded at least one hit in completing the sweep.
Muller drove in a career-high four runs while Lessard, Parmiter and Evangelista added two RBI apiece in the win.
Muller hit an RBI double and freshman Nicole Wright (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) added an RBI triple in the second inning. Muller smacked a bases-clearing double and Lessard added an RBI double in the third as the Storm led 7-0 heading into the bottom of the inning.
In the fourth, Gravel had an RBI double and Parmiter and Jordan added RBI singles as the Storm took an 11-0 lead, and Parmiter drove in a run with a double and Evangelista closed out the scoring with an RBI single to right field in the fifth inning.
Keuka is on the road for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Cazenovia College Friday before hosting Morrisville State and SUNYIT Saturday and Sunday.
