BRADFORD, P.A. — The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on the season with an 8-6 victory over the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Wednesday afternoon.
Tre Lloyd led the way for the Wolves with a hat trick, scoring three goals in the win and tying his career high in goals in a game.
Harrison Root added two goals for the Green and Gold, while
Cam Hovater chipped in a goal and an assist.
Toby Tummino and
Austin Holsclaw also scored for Keuka College while
Nikolas Gitsis paced the offense with three assists.
Keuka College 8 at Pitt.-Bradford 6
Keuka College (2-0) struck early to establish momentum in the opening quarter. The Wolves generated consistent pressure on the Pitt. Bradford (4-2) defense and converted three times in the first 15 minutes.
Tre Lloyd found the net during the opening stretch while
Harrison Root and
Austin Holsclaw also added goals as the Green and Gold built a 3-1 advantage after the first quarter.
The second quarter turned into a defensive battle as both teams tightened up on the defensive end. The Wolves continued to control possession and added a goal midway through the frame to extend their lead. Pitt.-Bradford answered with a late goal of its own, but the Green and Gold carried a 4-2 advantage into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Keuka College pushed its advantage with an efficient offensive stretch in the third quarter. Root scored his second goal of the game while Lloyd completed his hat trick as the Wolves scored three times in the period. Pitt.-Bradford countered with a pair of goals, but the Green and Gold remained in control with a 7-4 lead entering the fourth quarter.
The Panthers made a late push in the final frame, scoring twice to trim the deficit. However, the Wolves controlled key possessions down the stretch and continued to generate scoring opportunities.
Toby Tummino added an insurance goal while the Green and Gold defense held firm in the closing minutes as Keuka College secured the 8-6 victory.
