KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost at home to Russell Sage College 66-57 in an Empire 8 game on Friday.
Mary Cotter led Keuka College (5-5, 0-1 Empire 8) with 15 points.
Brooke Burd recorded another double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Janea Hamilton-Brown added 10 points, and
Emilee Bacon posted 12 rebounds and four blocks.
Russell Sage College 66 at Keuka College 57
The Wolves got out to a fast start as they scored the first nine points and led 9-0 four minutes into the contest. Russell Sage got on the board, but the Wolves remained ahead for the duration of the first. Keuka led 14-11 after one.
Emiley Anderson got an early steal, and
Mary Cotter converted it into points with a layup as Keuka pushed their lead up to five. However, back-to-back threes by Russell Sage swung the momentum and lead over to the visitors. The Gators pushed their lead out to as many as eight in the half and led by six, 29-23, at the half.
The Wolves cut into the lead in the second half as a three by
Janea Hamilton-Brown cut the margin to five midway through the third. It was Keuka's first triple of the game. The Green and Gold would continue to fight, shrinking the margin to two on a jumper by Anderson with 3:43 left in the quarter. The margin was six in the final minute of the quarter and looking to stay there, but Sage hit a three at the buzzer to lead 46-37 after three quarters.
The Gators led by as many as 16 in the final quarter as the visitors saw the game out. Russell Sage defeated Keuka College 66-57.
