The Hawks started fast, scoring in just the second minute of the first half. After the early goal, both teams had multiple chances before Hilbert added another in the 26th minute to take a 2-0 lead. The Wolves answered quickly, as Davis converted a penalty in the 29th minute to cut the deficit in half. In the closing minutes of the first half, the Hawks stayed on the attack and scored again in the 37th minute to push the lead back to two heading into halftime.
Hilbert picked up in the second half where it left off in the first, staying aggressive with three shots on goal in the opening minute, all stopped by Logan Karn.
