ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Keuka College Softball team earned a non-conference split at the Rochester Institute of Technology on Thursday afternoon.
Keuka College (2-13, 0-2 Empire 8) took the opener against the Tigers 8-6. RIT answered back with a 23-3 victory in game two.
Keuka College 8 at RIT 6 – Game 1
RIT took the lead with a run in the first, but the Wolves tied the game and took the lead in the third. Paige Granger led off with a walk and moved to third on a double by
Olivia Flynn. Granger scored on an error and Flynn came home on a double by
Makenna DeMoney.
Haley Mascho added two-out single to score DeMoney and give the Wolves a 4-1 advantage.
The Tigers got one back in the fourth, but the Wolves answered in the fifth.
Hailey Jasinski led off the inning with a double and scored on a double by
Giana Mruczek.
The lead would hold until the sixth when the hosts scored three runs to send the game to the seventh tied at 5-5. Jasinski led off with a single, but a pair of pop outs quickly put two outs on the board. Jasinski stole second and scored on a single by
Haley Mascho. That sparked three straight hits as
Emily Cutrona singled and
Grace Eagen doubled two score a pair and give the Wolves an 8-5 lead.
The Wolves closed it out. RIT got one run back but
Abbie DeRock got a groundout to earn the save and end the game with Keuka defeating RIT 8-6.
RIT 23 vs. Keuka College 3 (5 inn.) – Game 2
The Wolves kept the momentum going in game two as Keuka College loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first.
Giana Mruczek delivered a two-run singled for the Wolves. A walk by Eagen loaded the bases again and
Emily Cutrona followed with a walk to force in a run and give the Wolves a 3-0 advantage.
However, the Tigers controlled the rest of the game. RIT scored four in the bottom of the first to take the lead.
Olivia Flynn had a hit to lead off the second, but that would prove to be Keuka's only hit the rest of the game. The Tigers outscored Keuka 19-0 after the first inning to defeat the Wolves 23-3.

- With the split, Keuka College is now 9-22 all-time against RIT
- Olivia Flynn got the win in the circle for the Wolves in game one. Flynn went six innings and struck out five for her first win of the season
- Flynn also contributed at the plate with three hits in the opener
- As a team, Keuka had five doubles in game one, tying for the fifth-most in a game in program history
- Hailey Jasinski had a pair of stolen bases to go with her two hits and three runs scored
