CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Softball team dropped an Empire 8 Conference doubleheader against Russell Sage College on Saturday at Finger Lakes Community College.
Keuka College (4-21, 2-10 Empire 8) lost the opener 5-0 to the Gators. The Wolves then fell in game two 8-2.
Russell Sage took the lead in the top of the first and added throughout the game. The Wolves got their only baserunner in the game in the third inning as a strikeout was thrown away allowing the batter to reach. The Gators took game one 5-0.
In game two, Russell Sage again took the lead in the top of the first, this time scoring three runs.
Hailey Jasinski tripled in the bottom of the first for Keuka's first hit of the afternoon but would be stranded at third.
The Wolves cut the deficit to one in the third inning. Paige Granger led off with a walk.
Olivia Flynn followed with a hit to right that got behind the outfielder and into the corner. Granger scored and Flynn came all the way around for the inside the park home run.
However, the Wolves managed only two more hits the rest of the game. Russell Sage answered and added to their lead as the Gators defeated the Wolves 8-2 in game two.
Keuka College has a busy week ahead with four conference doubleheaders during the week. The stretch will open on Monday as Keuka College hosts Nazareth University at 3 p.m. at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
