Burd Posts Double-Double as Keuka Runs Past Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. — Keuka College junior Brooke Burd recorded her seventh career double-double to lead Keuka College to a 66-42 women's basketball victory at SUNY Delhi on Saturday.

Burd led Keuka College (2-2) with 16 points and 18 rebounds. Mary Cotter added 13 for the Wolves. The guard duo of Lillian Mullen and Courtney Moreau facilitated the offense for the Wolves with five and four assists between the two.

The Wolves controlled a low-scoring first quarter between the two teams. Emilee Bacon got an offensive rebound and laid it in to make it 10-6 Keuka. Maddie Kramer and Courtney Moreau followed with layups as the Wolves pushed their lead to eight. In the final seconds, Janea Hamilton-Brown stole the ball and was fouled. She was perfect from the line as Keuka led 18-8 after one.

A pair of layups by Mary Cotter opened the second quarter as the Wolves extended their lead. Keuka College remained in control. The Green and Gold outscored the Broncos 17-10 in the frame. They nearly doubled-up SUNY Delhi, leading 35-18 at the half.

SUNY Delhi used their press to pull the game closer in the third. A 12-3 run by the hosts shrunk the Keuka margin down to 10, 42-32. However, the Wolves responded, led by senior Mary Cotter. The Wolves scored the final seven points of the third, all by Cotter, as Keuka College carried a 49-32 lead into the final quarter.

Keuka College put the game away in the third. Their run continued into the fourth as they scored the first ten points to lead 59-32. Delhi got their first basket of the quarter with 5:01 left in the game. The Wolves saw the game out for the 66-42 victory.
