CLERMONT, Fla. — The Keuka College Softball team opening their 2024 season on Sunday with a pair of games on their spring break trip to Florida.
Keuka College (0-2) lost both games on Sunday. The Wolves fell to SUNY Brockport 10-2 in the opener and then lost to Wellesley College 9-7 in the second game.
SUNY Brockport 10 vs. Keuka College 2 – 6 innings
The Wolves got out to a fast start in their first game.
Emily Cutrona led off with a single and promptly stole second base. She moved to third on a groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Hailey Jasinski for the 1-0 lead.
In the second,
Kaitlyn Holland singled and
Haley Mascho doubled in her first collegiate at-bat to leave runners on second and third with one out. The Wolves would load the bases with a two-out walk and Holland scored as
Hailey Jasinski got her second RBI of the game with a bases-loaded walk.
Brockport attempted to answer with a leadoff double in the bottom of the second, but starting pitcher
Olivia Flynn retired the next three batters in order to end the inning.
However, the rest of the game belonged to the Golden Eagles. Brockport scored six in the third, one in the fourth, and three in the sixth to end the game with a 10-2 victory over the Wolves.
Lead Wolf: In her first collegiate game
Hailey Jasinski made an instant impact for the Wolves. The first year went 1-1 at the plate with a pair of walks and a sacrifice fly. Jasinski drove in both runs for the Wolves against the Golden Eagles.
Wellesley College 9 vs. Keuka College 7
The Blue struck first with a run in the top of the first, but the Wolves answered as an error was surrounded by singles by
Olivia Flynn and
Makenna DeMoney to load the bases.
Grace Eagen worked the bases-loaded walk to tie the game.
The Wolves put together a two-out rally in the second inning to take the lead. After scoring a run on an error, Jasinski and DeMoney had RBI singles to give the Wolves a 4-1 lead.
Wellesley would get one back in the third and fourth innings. The Blue then took the lead with three runs in the fifth for a 6-4 advantage. They then added two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Keuka College fought until the end.

Grace Eagen. Later,
Lauren Gilbert scored Eagen on a double to make it 9-6.
Kaitlyn Holland delivered a sacrifice fly. The Wolves brought the tying run to the plate but were unable to complete the comeback as Keuka fell to Wellesley College 9-7.

Makenna DeMoney and
Emily VanDelinder.
KC Notes:
- Keuka College is now 0-5 all-time against SUNY Brockport
- Sunday was the first meeting between the two schools since 1998, but they will become much more acquainted with each other as SUNY Brockport will join the Empire 8 next year
- Game two was the first time that Keuka College and Wellesley College have ever met on the softball diamond
- The Wolves are 2-8 in their last 10 season openers
- Luck has not been in Keuka's favor when the Green and Gold played on St. Patrick's Day. The Wolves are 0-4 all-time
- Emily VanDelinder was hit by a pitch in the first game. The senior now has 6 HBPs in her career, tying for fifth-most in program history
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves are back on the field for a pair of games on Monday afternoon. Keuka College will play Luther College to start the day and then finish against Clarkson University down in Florida.
