ALFRED, N.Y. - The Keuka College Softball team played an Empire 8 Conference doubleheader on the road against Alfred University losing both games.
Keuka College (5-15, 0-6 Empire 8) fell to Alfred University 10-0 after five innings in game one. The Wolves then dropped the second game of the doubleheader to the Saxons 11-0 in five innings as well.
Keuka College 0 at Alfred University 10 - Game One – 5 Innings
The Wolves led off the game with a two-out double from
Makenna DeMoney (Conklin, N.Y. /Susquehanna Valley). DeMoney made it to third by advancing on a wild pitch, but the Wolves were unable to get her home.
Makenna DeMoney's double would be the only Wolves hit of the game.
The Saxon's offense was strong in game one putting up all ten runs in the first four innings of play.
Both
Kelsey Mohl (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) and
Shauna Pimm (Canisteo, N.Y. / Avoca) would pitch two innings on the mound, and both would record two strikeouts each for the Wolves, but it was not enough to stop the strong Saxons offense and the Wolves would fall 10-0 in five innings in game one.
Lead Wolf: Freshman
Makenna DeMoney would be the only Wolf to reach the bases in game one with her double to center field.
Keuka College 0 at Alfred University 11– Game Two- 5 Innings
The Wolves started game two with a single from
Helena Hill (Akron, N.Y. / Akron) to left field followed by a single to right field from
Makenna DeMoney. The inning would end before the Wolves could cross the plate.
The Saxons quickly got up 8-0 after two innings and then tacked on three more by the end of the fourth inning. With the Wolves unable to get a run across the plate, the Saxons would take game two 11-0 after five innings.
Lead Wolf: Senior
Helena Hill went one-for-one at the plate with a single to left field. Hill also had a successful sacrifice bunt for the Wolves.
KC Notes:
- The Keuka College Softball team is now 8-30 against Alfred University all-time.
- After today's doubleheader, the Saxons have become the 5th most-played team for the Keuka College Softball program. Â
- After earning a hit in both games of today's doubleheader, Makenna DeMoney extended her hitting streak to four games, a new career-high for the freshman.
