Box Score 2 LEESBURG, Fla. — The Keuka College Baseball team split a pair of games to open their season and spring trip to Florida on Saturday.
Keuka College (1-1) defeated in-state foe Fredonia State 10-6 in the first game, but the Wolves lost 7-5 to Rutgers-Camden in the nightcap.
Keuka College 10 vs. Fredonia State 6
The Blue Devils jumped out to the early advantage over the Wolves with a run in the first and four in the third. Keuka got a pair back in the bottom of the third. A pair of leadoff walks put runners on and a bunt moved them over. Josh Tryon delivered the first hit and runs of the year for Keuka College. The junior hit a double to right to score the runners, making it 5-2 after three.
Shane Daley had an RBI single in the fourth as the Wolves continued to cut into the Blue Devil lead. The two teams would be left off the board until the seventh when Fredonia added a run in the top of the frame. However, the Wolves would cut the game to one in the bottom on a two-run double by Brady Booher making it 6-5 in favor of Fredonia.
Keuka College once again took advantage of free base runners. A walk and a hit by pitch started the bottom of the eighth for the Green and Gold. After being bunted over, Donald Nemeth hit a two-run single to give the Wolves the lead, but Keuka would not stop there. Ryan Seales had a two-run double for Keuka and Josh Tryon capped the scoring for the Wolves with an RBI single. The Wolves would score five runs on five hits in the bottom of the eighth to take the 10-6 lead.
Tre Slawson saw the game out on the mound for the Wolves. The freshman completed his 2.2 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief to secure the 10-6 victory for the Wolves.
Lead Wolf: Josh Tryon went a perfect 4-4 at the plate for Keuka College. Tryon had three singles and a double, drove in three runs, and scored one himself.
Rutgers-Camden 7 vs. Keuka College 5
The Scarlet Raptors took the early lead in the bottom of the first, but Keuka answered in the third. Tyler Lewandowski singled to left to tie the game. The Wolves later took the lead on a double steal.
Rutgers-Camden tied it in the bottom of the fourth, but the lead was short-lived as Matt Vaccaro singled in Lewandowski in the top of the fifth to make it 3-2.
The teams would continue to trade runs with Rutgers-Camden tying it in the fifth and Cade Dick hitting an RBI single to take the lead in the sixth. The Wolves added an extra run on the basepaths to lead 5-3.
Rutgers-Camden tied the game on a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth and took the lead on a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh. Keuka College brought the tying run to the plate in both the eighth and ninth, but they would be unable to convert, losing in the second game 7-5.
Lead Wolf: After pitching in the first game, freshman Tyler Lewandowski showcased his versatility, going 2-2 at the plate, driving in a run, and scoring a run as well.

- The Wolves earned their first-ever win over Fredonia State. Keuka is now 1-6 all-time. The two teams have not met since the 2010 season
- It was the first-ever meeting on the diamond between Keuka College and Rutgers-Camden
- Shane Daley, Donald Nemeth, Tyler Lewandowski, and Devyn Scheidt all logged their first collegiate hit on Saturday
- Tyler Lewandowski pitched a bulk of the game for the Wolves. The freshman went 4.1 innings of relief, allowing just two runs and helping keep the Wolves in the game
Up Next for Keuka College: Keuka College will face another in-state opponent on Sunday. The Green and Gold will face Union College in a doubleheader in Florida. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
