Four Different Wolves Score to Beat Morrisville

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Field Hockey Team (5-12, 3-5 E8) defeated the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs (4-9, 0-5 SUNYAC) 5-0 on Monday afternoon at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex.
Makaela Mills (Afton, N.Y./ Afton), Kirstin Billings (Hilton, N.Y./ Hilton), Tori Nelson (Vernon Center, N.Y./ Vernon-Verona- Sherrill), and Eliza Tuttle (Whitesboro, N.Y./ Whitesboro) each had a goal in today's game. Tori Nelson (Vernon Center, N.Y./ Vernon-Verona- Sherrill) led the Wolves' offense with two goals.

The Wolves got out to a quick start on Monday afternoon against the Mustangs. Less than two minutes into the game Tori Nelson got her first shot on goal of the game. The shot was saved, but Kirstin Billings was quick to the rebound and took a shot scoring the first point of the game for the Wolves. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Wolves through the first. The Wolves would have four shots on goal and three penalty corners throughout the first.
The Wolves continued their strong offense in the second quarter. Six minutes into the second, Tori Nelson would score her first goal of the game on a penalty stroke, sneaking the ball past the goalkeeper in the bottom left corner. Just a minute later Makaela Mills would score the Wolves' third goal of the game unassisted putting the score at 3-0.
The Mustangs started to become more confident in the third quarter, getting their first penalty corner of the game. The Wolves kept a strong defense and Jordan Nichols (Deposit, N.Y./ Afton) earned her first three saves of the game. The Wolves would not get a shot off in the third and the game remained 3-0 going into the fourth.
The Wolves picked up momentum again in the fourth quarter. With just five minutes left to play, Eliza Tuttle found the back of the net, scoring her first career goal and putting the Wolves up 4-0. Just two minutes later Tori Nelson would grab her second goal of the game to help bring the Wolves to a 5-0 win over the Mustangs.

  • Eliza Tuttle's goal in the fourth quarter was the first of her career.
  • With tonight's game, the Wolves have tied the record for team assists in a season with 29. They also now hold the record for penalty corners in a season with 155 after having 17 tonight.
Up Next for Keuka College: The Keuka College Field Hockey Team finishes up their season with Senior Day on Saturday, October 29th at 11:00 am. They will face Nazareth College, an Empire 8 opponent. This is a make-or-break game for the Wolves which will determine if they make Conference playoffs or not.
