WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — King's College scored four second half goals as the host Monarchs defeated Keuka College 4-1 in field hockey on Tuesday night.

Taylor Lessard scored the lone goal for Keuka College (2-8). Senior Kassidy Valentine turned away 16 shots in goal for the Wolves.

The host Monarchs controlled most of the first quarter, unloading 10 shots against the Keuka College goal. Kassidy Valentine stood tall in goal turning away every effort on net to keep King's scoreless. With minutes left in the frame, Keuka got a penalty corner and took advantage. Taylor Lessard inserted the ball with Nicole Wilson taking the initial shot on goal, which was saved. The ball would work its way back over to Lessard who beat the keeper for her first goal of the season and the 1-0 lead.

The second quarter was a fight for possession. The two teams combined for three shots and 29 fouls. Keuka College remained ahead 1-0 at the half.

Things would go south for the Wolves in the third quarter. King's College had an 11-0 advantage in shots and took advantage of it. The Monarchs scored three goals in a six-minute span in the quarter to carry a 3-1 lead into the fourth.

King's College once again controlled the play in the fourth. The Monarchs outshot Keuka 5-1 and added a late goal King's defeated Keuka 4-1 on Tuesday.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will now face a two-week break in their schedule. Keuka College will return to action on Wednesday, October 9 as the Wolves travel to SUNY Geneseo to face the Knights.
